As most of you know, Kevin and I moved to Houston, TX a couple of years ago. Kevin had never lived in the south before; I was raised in southern Louisiana (Plaquemines Parish) and moved to Ohio in my teens.
When we bought our house here, we had what we thought were two little orange trees in our side yard. Each were only about 18" high and after last year's drought resembled Charlie Brown's Christmas tree more than anything. I was upset and vowed to dig them up and replant with bigger trees if they didn't do any better.
I'm glad I waited! Although the tree is only 2' to 2 1/2' tall, it is loaded with blooms! If every bloom turns into an orange the tree will be on the ground. I'll have to watch it and try to prop it up as best I can.
The other tree, however, doesn't appear to be an orange tree. I'm not sure just what it is yet, but I'll be trying to figure that out in the next few days.
Now let's just hope the school kids of Texas aren't like the school kids in Louisiana used to be and steal my oranges on their way to school!!! (hint, hint sis!)
