Halloween Duo

My sister, Teresa, and one of her co-workers attended a staff meeting yesterday in Shreveport, La.  The agenda for the meeting was a Halloween party and scavenger hunt in the Riverside Mall.

Their assignment, if they chose to accept it, was to attend the meeting dressed as a famous pair.

Her co-worker came up with the theme, and my sister reluctantly consented to go as Alfalfa; her co-worker, of course, was Buckwheat. Not politically correct you say? They stole the show and had a blast doing it!

Preparing for Trick or Treat

Have you ever tried to put lipstick on the moving mouth of a 5-year-old???

Trust me, it's neigh onto impossible!

Voter Fraud

From the Dayton (Ohio) Daily News:

 Miami County election officials want to know how four absentee ballots returned to the elections office by mail got there when the people who requested the ballots are complaining they never received one.

"I think we have a little voter fraud going on," elections Director Steve Quillen told the board Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Dry Cleaning

While dropping off some items at the dry cleaner's this morning, we saw a new sign painted on the window.

I wonder how many suede and leather wedding gowns they get in a year's time???

Snow Flurries

are forecasted this morning as I ready the chittlins for the bus!  Okay, put the sweater down and go get your winter coat,,,geez, a week of fall and now it's winter. That's the way the weather goes in OH-IO.

Chocolate Eyeballs

or more commonly known as Buckeyes are a yummy and easy to make treat any time of the year.

Combine 1/2 cup peanut butter (creamy or chunky), 1 cup sifted powdered sugar and 3 Tbsp softened butter. Mix until well-combined. Shape 2 Tbsp at a time into 'eye balls' and place on a wax paper lined cookie sheet. Repeat until you've used all your dough. Place cookie sheet filled with 'eye balls' into the freezer. Freeze for about an hour or until firm.

Right before you take the 'eye balls' out of the freezer, melt 8 oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips (I use the microwave but you can use a double-boiler if you prefer). Stir every 30 seconds (if using microwave) until chocolate is melted.

Using a toothpick, dip each 'eye ball' into the melted chocolate and place back onto wax paper lined cookie sheet.

Any left-over 'eye balls' can be stored in the freezer (IF you have any, that is!)

Kids Just Don't Get It!

Today it seemed like these little darlings stepped on my last nerve and then some!

After the 9-year-old had eaten two eggs, 1/2 pound of bacon, 3 pieces of toast, a glass of milk, a hot dog with ketchup AND a large bowl of cereal, he asked:

9-year-old: Can I have a treat?

Me:  How about 'I'll let you live!'?

9-year-old: Huh?

Guess kids just don't catch sarcasm, do they?
