Ah, the first full day of spring has finally arrived!!
Meredith Vieira from the Today show has an article on her blog about spring and the memories it brings of Easter and ducklings; I have a similar memory.
I must have been about 6-year-old when my Grandparents gave my four sisters and me two ducklings for Easter. We thought we were pretty big to now be proud owners of livestock!
We were called away from the box that held our prize ducklings; when we hurried back to check on them, we found our 2-year-old sister with a duckling in each small hand, banging their bills together, saying "Kiss duckies, kiss."
Needless to say, that was the ducklings first and last kiss. We were heartbroken and cried for hours. The story still floats around when we sisters get together and I think the then 2-year-old still feels a little sad. She now saves lives in Texas instead of taking them. But if you ever see a little dark haired RN come your way, make sure you ask if she is the famous 'duckling murderer'; above all else, run fast if she asks if you want to kiss!
