Since moving from Ohio to Texas over four years ago I've gotten quite used to the weather dipping down into the 40's during the winter months. All bets were off today, though!
Houston, Tx all but shut down today as ice, sleet, freezing rain, and snow fell in the area. Snow I can drive through; ice not so much.
Having a 15-year-old grandson living here, it's been difficult to keep enough bread and milk in the house these last few days. Last night I had to threaten him with bodily harm (well maybe not harm but serious trouble) if he came downstairs during the night and drank all the milk. So, instead he fixed himself toast and cheesewhiz sandwiches.
Okay, now we are out of bread! I can manage that; mixing up a loaf of bread and baking it was pretty easy this morning. Since it was cold, rainy, snowy and wet outside I decided to make a big pot of potato soup for supper.
After 5 slices of homemade bread and butter, 2 large bowls of potato soup he announced he was full (at least for the next hour or two). Of course, he had to grab a donut to eat on the way down to pick up the mail!
