One of my grandsons was diagnosed with ADHD when he was young. It was very obvious and he struggles with his conduct constantly.
He told me once that he wants to be good, he just can't.
Now that he is getting a little older he is able to express his thoughts and feelings a little better.
It made my heart sad to read his poem that he wrote for a school assignment:
-
Makes you lose focus....You can't concentrate
You're always playing with things-
pencils, pens, and erasers.
Causing others to lose focus
They check to see where the noise is coming from
It's just me play with my pencils, pens, and erasers
Learning doesn't happen when people are focused on what I am doing
