Tax Time (AGAIN)

Yes, yes, I know, you've already filed your income tax, got your refund and have invested it in the American economy.

For those of us who OWE Uncle Sam money, I for one prefer to wait until the last minute to pay.  It pains me to have to send more money!  When we both worked I had our deductions figured down to the wire and never owed/was refunded more than $100.  Now it's a whole different ball game.

But I digress,,,

I use TurboTax and efile; have for quite a few years.

This time when I printed out my hard copy I get a notice that, since we paid so much, I need to make extra payments every quarter to avoid underpayment penalties.  The IRS even gratefully included free payment vouchers for me to use,,,how nice, huh?

I think, instead, I'll be doing some re-figuring and allocating of funds to other areas.  

I thought only the rich were going to be taxed to death,,,we are a long way from that, trust me!  It does seem, however, that because we scrimped and saved, worked hard all our lives to not be a burden on society when we did retire that we are now paying the price.

Yummy!!

Those who know me well know that as a 'grill cook' I pretty much suck!!  Thanks go out to Mr. Brad for sharing his recipe with me for pork tenderloin on the grill.

Man oh man, it was good!! (and I didn't even burn it!)

Pork tenderloin sliced atop a bed of fluffy rice, topped off with fresh cilantro from my kitchen herb garden was 'what's for dinner' tonight!  A garden salad, fresh sourdough bread and a nice glass of red wine rounded out the meal.

Now,,,since I did the grilling, shouldn't it be someone else's turn to clean the kitchen????

What's For Dinner?

Located not far from our house, The Elephant Garden is a small, family-run Chinese restaurant.  It's our 'go to' spot when we are hungry and want a good meal!  

All of the dishes that we have tried so far are scrumptios!!!  The won-ton soup is to die for. 

Kevin likes to try different things at different places,,,me, I usually stick with the tried and true.  When Alice (the owner's daughter) brought out his dinner this weekend we both wondered if that was such a good idea this time!

Contrary to what it looks like (anyone think worms?) it was delicious!  The julienned pork cooked in a secret recipe black bean paste served over slivered scallions was much, much better tasting than it looked!!
