Happy Birthday Austin!

Today is my grandson's birthday,,,12 years old already!

His Mother says all he wants for his birthday is a mohawk hair cut!! That's really nothing new for this kid!

Clean Bill of Health!

After spending the last two days at MD Anderson here in Houston, I've been given a clean bill of health,,,that means I'm cancer free for another year!!!  Hurray!!!!

The doctor tells me that due to the type of cancer I had I will have to be checked yearly. However, he also says that going 5 years without a recurrence is definitely encouraging. (probably more so for me than him!)

Can I hear an 'amen'?? *S*

Hope all had a great Christmas holiday and looking forward to a prosperous new year.

Holiday Tea

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending a Holiday Tea with the hubby (yes, he went willingly!!). In all my years on this planet, this was a 'first' for me!

Just a few miles from our house we have one of the top ten tea houses in Texas, Serenitea.

We started our experience with cups of hot wassail with spiced pecans. Yummy!!

 

Our next course brought assorted finger sandwiches, which were actually good!  I bet the Queen across the pond was eating the exact same sandwiches!! *L*

 

The last edible items on the list consisted of scones with clotted cream and poached pears with lace cookies.

 

We finished off our feast with a great pot of tea.  I really enjoyed this; I think we now have a new holiday tradition!

 

Christmas Cactus

Okay, according to the 'experts' one should take special care to insure that the Christmas Cactus blooms at the right time of year. Cut back on the watering, put it in a cool room, yada yada yada.  Maybe all that is true and maybe, just maybe, sometimes I do things right accidentally!!

Whatever the case may be, I just can not get over how beautiful this plant is!  I know I've posted several times and I'll try to not bore you again with another post/picture, but I just can't help myself!

Christmas Flowers

Last year my sister, Teresa, gave me a Christmas Cactus plant.  Last year at Christmas time it had beautiful flowers on it.

This year the plant has grown considerably and every tip has a flower bud on it! 

I certainly looks like we will have beautiful flowers throughout the month of December and maybe into the New Year!

 

Old Recipes

Really, in this digital age is there any excuse for one's recipe box to look like this?

 
Bits and pieces of paper, handwritten recipes on the back of an envelope, scraps of old magazine and newspaper with recipes printed from a long ago era.

 I don't think so either!!! (Altho,,,there are a lot of goodies represented here!)
