Food Stamps

There's nothing wrong with a family admitting they need help and using food stamps to purchase food to keep their family fed.  Lord knows, if General Motors declares bankruptcy we may be using them ourselves!!!

Yesterday I made a trip to the local WalMart Store to get the 10-year-old a pair of tennis shoes (which he will probably wear a month or two before he outgrows them!).

Ahead of me in line was a family using food stamps to purchase their groceries.  What upset me the most was there wasn't anythingin her overflowing cart that needed cooked!!  This family had a cart full of TV dinners, frozen potpies, luncheon meats, frozen french fries, you get the picture.  Well, I take that back, the mother did have three cartons of fresh strawberries and a couple packages of shortcakes, I guess you could consider that a 'cook-able' food.

I wanted to ask the chunky mother if she didn't realize that if she bought a bag of raw potatoes she could make 3 or 4 times as many french fries for the same amount of money; or if she bought some pie dough and even frozen veggies that she could make half again as many potpies as she had in her cart.

I guess maybe she didn't know how to cook,,,

I Hate Crayons!

Do you know how much I hate crayons???

Especially after one of them made it through the dryer?????

(Yea, I know you are supposed to check pockets before you wash, but I still hate crayons!)

As President Obama was getting off the helicopter in front of the White House, he was carrying a baby piglet under each arm.

The squared away Marine guard snapped to attention, saluted, and said:

"Nice pigs, sir."

The president replied, "These are not pigs. These are authentic Arkansas Razorback Hogs. I got one for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and I got one for Speaker of The House Nancy Pelosi."

The squared away Marine again snapped to attention, saluted, and said,

"Excellent trade, sir."

Friday Feel-Good

OMG, it's a rare, rare day around the ole hacienda today! Chitlins are in school and hubby went to visit a buddy for the day. It's actually QUIET, I don't have to referee any fights or arguments (at least until later in the afternoon) and I could wear my PJ's all day if I wanted to!

I do have some laundry going and I need to run the sweeper in the computer room, but other than that, I ain't doin' nuttin' today!

Neglected,,,

yes, I know I've neglected my blog here lately.

Sometimes life gets in the way of all the other things I want to do!!

On a positive note, most of my flower beds are ready for spring, once it gets here!  I would like to get new mulch this year; hopefully my kiddos will read this post and 'volunteer' to help me!! *S*

A Job Half Done

Yesterday I did move out of my chair and decided I'd had enough of my messy car!  The discarded gum wrappers, school papers  and general clutter in the back seat was such a mess that I was ashamed to drive my car and park it in a parking lot for fear I would meet someone I knew and they would peak into the backseat!

Since yesterday was such a beautiful day, I tackled the mess.

I got the entire driver's side of the car (front and back seats) detailed before my get-up-and-go just got-up-and-went!

Today I'll tackle the passenger side with vacuum and shampooer. Two nice days in a row shouldn't be wasted!!

UPDATE: Note to self,,,if, when cleaning car you turn the key to the 'on' position, make sure you turn key to 'off' position before leaving car sit overnight; otherwise, said battery will be dead the next morning!
