I'm told everyone has one (or two) somewhere in their home. Ours happened to be in the kitchen. Since everything has to come out of all the cabinets to prepare for new floors and cabinets to be installed, I've emptied ours.
I was totally amazed at what I found in that drawer!! Wonderful and amazing as it may be for some, most of this stuff is just trash; I guess hence the name 'junk' drawer.
Among the items I rediscovered this afternoon are 4 decks of cards (2 open), 2 boxes of matches (we don't smoke), 11 sets of keys (I know what 2 sets go to!), 2 pocket knives, 1 Swiss Army knife, 9 pair of nail clippers, 4 watches (3 work), 7 pair of eye glasses, a 1939 penny and a 1940 penny, 3 $1 coins and 2 sweeper belts.
All of this stuff I'm sure at one time was important to someone; most of this stuff will be kept to go back into a drawer in our new cabinets that will more than likely be designated as the new 'junk drawer'.
