Movin' on

Today is 'pack up your suitcase and move to a different city/hotel' day. It looks like the weather is fairly decent so I'll try to get out before I leave and get a few more pictures of an old temple I saw on the way to work. I've taken enough pictures of manhole covers for a while -and gotten more strange looks- so I'll move on to something more touristy! I should have enough for a 'manhole cover photo album'!

We were lucky and the typhoon went to the south of us; all we got was some brief rain. But it was torrential while it lasted!

Tomorrow we head into old Tokyo for some shopping at a special flea market; it sounds really interesting. I'll make sure the battery on my camera is fully charged!

Tourist Pictures

Wow, the weather here in Japan has been incredible! They are having a record heat wave (of course). Now a typhoon is moving toward the island; what next, earthquakes?? We should be okay here where we are, probably just high winds and rain. Guess it just makes life a little more interesting.

Didn't get much of a chance to get any more pictures yesterday; but I think I may take O up on his suggestion about a photo album of manhole covers! *L* It would be different, anyway. Bet no one else has one like it!

So I'm off for an early morning walk, on a quest to find more manhole covers!

Early Morning Walks

I wake up early, even here in the land of the rising sun. I enjoy walking around town when all is quiet, or relatively speaking for a town, anyway.

This part of Japan is a very neat and orderly place. The shopkeepers are out in front of their shops each morning, washing down the sidewalk, cleaning the windows and I even saw one shopkeeper this morning wiping down the public cigarette trash bin (not sure what they are called, but the butt goes here!). Even the manhole covers are painted in brilliant colors. There were other covers with birds and flowers; maybe I will get a chance to capture some of those, also. Although, it feels strange, walking around town taking pictures of manhole covers!

And trust me, I was not the one who won 1.8M and gave it away!! I would be home in a New York minute if I had won!

Mystery Lottery Winner Donates $1.8 Million Ticket

Yahoo news is reporting that Officials in western Japan were marveling on Sunday at the generosity of a mystery philanthropist who donated a $1.8 million lottery ticket to help victims of recent torrential rainstorms.

I don't want to take anything away from the flood victioms but ,Michele, i sure hope you weren't the mystery philanthropist!!!!

On the road again,,,

tunnel_crop1

Well folks, here we (me) are on the road again. Between one of the many flights I was so bored to tears, I mean interested in, the tunnel that connects the terminals in Detroit airport. Soooo, thought I would share with all the sights I get to see!

Hopefully this time I will be able to get some better shots here in Japan. There really are a lot of beautiful things here and some great photo opportunities if you have the time.

Time for me to get ready for work; everyone have a good week, I'll post when I can!

Political Humor

I know this little video has been out for a while, but I still find it extremely funny!

Must finish packing a bag, head out to Japan again this morning; worst thing is, I have to go by myself this time. That sucks!

Hopefully there will be a couple of guest bloggers to help fill in the empty spaces while I'm gone. I'll have my laptop, just not sure of good connections!

Later!

10 worst album covers of all time

The pork tornado, the guy you hate to love has his
picks
for the 10 worst album covers of all time. For anyone nostalgic for those good old days...this is a reality check!

Fashion Update

My cousin sent this list to me; I sure hope he wasn't trying to make a statement!!

Despite what you may have seen on the streets, the following combinations DO NOT go together and should be avoided:

1. A nose ring and bifocals
2. Spiked hair and bald spots
3. A pierced tongue and dentures
4. Miniskirts and support hose
5. Ankle bracelets and corn pads
6. Speedo's and cellulite
7. A belly button ring and a gall bladder surgery scar
8. Unbuttoned disco shirts and a heart monitor
9. Midriff shirts and a midriff bulge
10. Bikinis and liver spots
11. Short shorts and varicose veins
12. In-line skates and a walker
13. Thongs and Depends

And the scary thing is, I have actually seen one or two of these combinations!!!

Lucky Me!

I have to be one of the luckiest people on Earth (?).

I get to go back to Japan this weekend for an unknown period of time (hopefully only 2 weeks). Maybe I will get more of a chance to take some good pictures, catch up on my reading, bring along some DVD's and catch up on my movie watching, etc etc etc

Can't take my 'honey' with me this time; he finally has to go back to work himself!

What color are you?

Crayon Box
You are the Crayon Box. You have a multicolor
personality. You mix well with all the other
colors because there's a small part of every
color inside you.
